Biggest Travel Adventure: My biggest travel adventure was a 17-day trip to Asia after my husband graduated from dental school. We celebrated this major academic accomplishment by going to Japan, Thailand, and the Maldives. We got to see the beauty and harmony in the Tokyo metropolis, bask in the sunshine and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Maldives (right from our overwater bungalow!), and ride elephants in Thailand. It was a treat to introduce Dan to my family in Thailand while also experiencing new destinations that were on our bucket lists.

Next On My Bucket List: We have spoken for years about spending a summer as nomads in the South Pacific exploring Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti. We just need to find a long enough window with no school, work, or other commitments to be able to get to it all!

Secret Travel Tip: Even if you’re checking a bag, bring a carry-on that has your essentials and enough clothes for at least one day for everyone in your party (including a bathing suit for beach destinations). At a minimum, have an extra set of undergarments and all necessary medications in your personal item that you bring onboard. You’ll thank me the next time your checked bag gets sent to the wrong destination!
