This article provides a review of Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau, Bahamas.
Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas. During my stay, I got a feel for the resort by eating at its delicious restaurants, relaxing by the pool and beach, and participating in different activities.
However, I primarily visited as a travel professional to familiarize myself with the resort. So I spent time conversing with the resort’s staff, getting an inside look at different room categories, and experiencing what goes into weddings. I gained exclusive access to many areas–all so I could come back and share the experience.

Landing in Nassau
Once I landed and went through customs, I walked to the Sandals desk. Then I gave them my name, and that was it! Representatives took my luggage and escorted me and other guests onto the resort shuttle.
All Sandals Resorts provide transportation, whether the resort is 15 minutes from the airport or 1.5 hours away. Transportation is always included! What’s great about Sandals Royal Bahamian is that it’s only 15 minutes from the airport. That proximity allows guests to maximize their vacation time.
Arriving at the Royal Bahamian
Upon arriving at the resort, we were led into the club lounge. Here, we were given a cold towel, a drink, and an explanation of their services. Our luggage was tagged and whisked away to be delivered to our rooms shortly after.
The Club Sandals Concierge led us on a private resort orientation walk towards the West Bay, where our rooms were. Because we had rooms at the club level, we learned that in-room dining was included with our stay, as well as a selection of liquor from the mini bar and plush robes.
We received all this in addition to the private club lounge, where dedicated Club Sandals Concierges were present to assist us with anything we needed.

Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort
While I was there, the resort was at 98% capacity. But you would never know it. At many resorts, you must get up early and fight for chairs by the pool, which can be stressful and irritating. But this was different!
I was amazed that we could grab a chair at the pool any time throughout the day. I was shocked when we were told the resort was full, yet it didn’t feel like it. No matter where we were at the resort, it always felt relaxed.
Sandals Royal Bahamian has seven unique pools, including two feature pools. Those feature pools include a quiet pool and a “music” pool. There is truly something for everyone!
But if you want to dance, listen to music, and meet new people, the music pool is where the party is! From around 11 am-5 pm, there is music and fun games led by the DJ.
However, if you want a calm and quiet afternoon, the quiet pool gives you just that. And you can’t hear what’s going on at the other end of the resort. I utilized both pools, plus the pool on the private island, and I have to say that each one provided just what I needed when I went.

Dining at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort
Royal Bahamian has ten specialty restaurants, each having a unique design and ambiance. I was lucky to eat at five restaurants during this stay: La Plume, Kimonos, Tesoro, Calico, and Kanoo.
Additionally, the resort has two new food trucks: Coco Queen, which features traditional Bahamian fare, and Sweets ‘N’ Things, where you can grab a sweet treat and coffee.

I didn’t have a bad meal while there. Every meal and snack was delicious. The food was spectacular, from the French cuisine at La Plume to the hibachi at Kimonos, the Italian at Tesoro, and the American and Bahamian fare at Calico and Kanoo.
And I can’t forget about the food trucks! The fish tacos were delicious, and the late-afternoon Nutella crepe was just what I needed with my Pina Colada!

The Private Island of Sandals Barefoot Cay
In addition to the resort’s exclusive beaches and pools, guests can escape to Barefoot Cay, Sandal’s Royal Bahamian’s private island. It’s only a five-minute boat ride away and visible from the resort’s shores.
This island features two secluded beaches with calm waters where you can snorkel, relax, or swim. It also has a pool, whirlpool, swim-up bar, and a restaurant. These luxurious amenities are included with your stay.
The island was quiet and relaxing, with hammocks in shaded areas and private cabanas overlooking the water. They also have a spa. So you can complete your day of relaxation before returning to the resort. And because it is such a short trip you are welcome to visit for an hour or stay all day. They have everything you need right there!

Other Resort Amenities
Did you know that all the water sports are INCLUDED? I had the pleasure of going on a small sailing adventure with a few colleagues and an instructor. He took us out for about an hour. We sailed through the water and got to know each other more.

It was a great experience and a fun time! You can try many more sports like – kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailboats, and water trikes.
A full gym is on the top floor of one of the buildings. All the treadmills overlook the water. It is the most gorgeous site to take in while working out! Weight machines, mats, and other cardio equipment are also available.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I loved my stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian. I found the food delicious, the resort staff super friendly, and the private island a fun bonus! Because we toured different rooms and categories, we can confidently advise our clients on which resort area best suits their vacation.
If you don’t want a swim-up suite by the music pool, we know exactly where to put you!
Whatever experience you are looking for, this Sandals location has it. You can relax at the pool or the beach, get a luxurious massage at the spa, spend time on the secluded island, or mix and mingle with other people at the music pool. Between the delicious food, the warm hospitality, and the wonderful amenities, you won’t want to leave!
Here are a few more photos of the resort!
