Before booking a stay at Sandals Dunn’s River, many travelers want to know one simple thing: what are the rooms actually like? It’s true that resort rooms often look polished in photos on hotel websites. But we all know that little details matter, especially the things you might not have thought of before your arrival.

For this visit to Jamaica, we stayed in a Travertine Luxury Room at the Sandals Dunn’s River Resort. Below, we’ll walk through the room’s layout, features, and overall amenities. Hopefully, our photos and experience will provide you with an idea of what to expect if you’re considering a similar category.

For reference, this luxury room is the resort’s entry-level room type. It is also important to note that all rooms at Sandals Dunn’s River Resort offer room service, daily housekeeping, and turn-down service. These special amenities make a big difference for anyone who’s looking for reasonably priced accommodations without losing the luxury. As you may already know, most resorts require a club level booking or butler upgrade in order to receive extras such as room and daily turn-down service. So this is an added-bonus if you’re considering this specific resort.

What impressed me most about the room was its size. I was blown away when I first opened the door and saw the room’s spaciousness. It felt like an upgrade. Again, this is the resort’s entry level room. Here are a few photos that show the room’s layout and open-ness between the bedroom and bath areas.

If you’re looking for privacy, the panel doors slide across the track to fully separate the bedroom from the bath area. If you have an early riser in your party, they’ll have plenty of space to prepare for the day’s adventure while you peacefully sleep.

Speaking of sleeping peacefully, the rooms come with a mattress that leans a little more firm than plush. If you prefer something a little softer, no worries. You can let housekeeping know and they will bring a soft mattress topper to accommodate your needs.

This is one of those “little things” that you don’t hear about often. Make sure to see our list of tips for making the most of your stay at Sandals Dunn’s River Resort when you’re finished with our room report.

Now for the view. Since this was an entry-level room, we didn’t have an ocean view. That was, however, completely okay. We had an incredible view of the Jamaican mountainside along with the resort’s meticulous landscaping immediately below us. It was so pleasant.

Of course, the ocean view is also incredible. But there is something to be said about the tranquility of the mountains. Jamaica has a beautiful countryside. I couldn’t imagine being unhappy with any of the views from this resort.

The view was so lovely that we enjoyed breakfast on our balcony each morning. As you can see, our terrace was sizable just like the room. In the evenings, I would often sit out here and relax before getting ready for dinner.

We enjoyed items like fresh fruit, bagels with cream cheese, smoked salmon, bacon, and sausages for breakfast. That’s also a fresh pot of Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee. It’s always a treat when you visit.

Our bath area was another highlight. Seriously, where have you stayed that offers such a tremendous space? We had a long vanity with double sinks and mirrors. Having the water closet in a separate space in the corner was also a nice touch.

My personal favorite area was the makeup vanity, It offered additional lighting and enough counter space for me to lay out my personal items. I was able to comfortably get ready for dinner here each evening.

We had a walk-in shower. The entry level room does not have a separate soaking tub. If having a tub is important to you, you’ll want to consider an upgraded room. For us, it was not a big deal.

The shower had an overhead rainfall shower head along with a detachable option.

I was happy to take advantage of the Red Lane Spa soap, shampoo, and conditioner. These products are top of the line and only added to the list of small luxuries our room had to offer.

We also had a selection of small products and amenities from the Red Lane Spa. Again, these little extras make all the difference.

It was nice to see a quality hair dryer and a diffuser. That diffuser came in handy with the tropical humidity.

I’m sure that most will appreciate the selection of water, sodas, juices, and beverages. These items wre available when we first arrived. Then, moving forward, we were restocked with the items we requested.

We had a mini-fridge to help keep items chilled. Sandals notes on their website that this room includes Robert Mondavi varietal wines and refrigerator stocked with bottled water, juice, soda, and local beer

We had a coffee maker and kettle for hot water. Since we ordered fresh coffee for breakfast each morning, we never used the in-room option except on our arrival day. The water kettle was a plus for making tea.

Here are a few of the accompaniments that were stocked in our room. You could pick up a variety of flavored teabags throughout the resort. However, if you prefer a certain one, you could easily bring it with you. You’ll have everything you need in the room to make a proper cup of tea.

We had a nice flat screen television in the room. As far as local channels, you won’t find much. The resort does offer complimentary Wi-Fi in all public areas and resort rooms. So you should be able to stream items from your favorite app. We also used a QR code on the television to order room service.

Lastly, we had a full size closet that came with robes, slippers, and other essentials. Some of which included extra pillows, blankets, a luggage rack, an iron with ironing board, and an in-room safe.

Overall, we loved our room at Sandals Dunn’s River and I could not think of one single thing that I would change about it. The attention to detail not only in the room but at the resort as a whole did not go unnoticed.
