Adventures by Disney Peru: Trip in Review

Recently I traveled to Peru with Adventures by Disney, and it was the trip of a lifetime. I have been trying to put into words just how incredible the experience I had in Peru was, but I’ll start with a few highlights of the trip!

The Adventures by Disney Peru Itinerary

To be honest, I was a little hesitant about adventuring to Peru when I first read the itinerary. Adventures by Disney describes their Peru adventure like this:

“Explore the ruins of the ancient Inca civilization to get a firsthand glimpse of their art, celebrations and traditions. Accompanied by your Private Adventure Guide, see the glorious Machu Picchu, and be surrounded by natural beauty throughout a vibrant, festive Private Adventure to Peru.”

White water rafting and what sounds like a lot of hiking… not an itinerary I would usually sign up for. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed every adventure we had scheduled. From learning about the traditional textiles of Cusco, white water rafting down the Urubamba River, hiking through the Ollantaytambo Town & Ruins, visiting the Moray Ruins & Salt Pans of Maras, walking the Pisac Market, getting to pet & feed Llamas and so much more!! It was all Inca-redible!!

Experiencing Peru and Making Friends Along the Way

The best part was the group of people attending along with me and our Adventure Guides. Everyone supported each other, encouraged and pushed each other to keep moving forward when maybe we wanted to stop. We began the trip as strangers and left as friends.

Standout Moments and Memories from Peru

I was most excited about being able to visit Machu Picchu, and it did not disappoint- it was just as breathtaking and beautiful as I had imagined. But what made our trip even more special was the magical moments that were sprinkled throughout by our Adventure Guides. The one that touched me the most was when we were each given 10 Soles ($2.50 US) to purchase as much food as we could, and then we were told after we made our purchases that we were giving the food to a local little girl and an elderly woman who could both use the extra food. It was such a special moment, one that I know touched so many of our hearts.

At the end of the trip, what I was most grateful for was the immersive experience, getting to connect with an ancient culture and getting to spend time with the people of Peru. I took it all in… the food, the sites, the people, the sounds, and the traditions of an amazing country and people.

The Disney Difference

There is no doubt that the Disney Difference shined through our Adventure guides, Kacey (from the U.S) and Rudy (from Peru). They made our trip one to remember. They are incredible storytellers with so much knowledge of the area. They not only shared their knowledge with us, but they supported us and made every detail of our trip hassle-free. They thought of everything: snacks, water, and essential supplies. They made getting us from one adventure to the next, tickets, transportation, and more so easy, so I could really focus on enjoying every moment! They are incredible humans, and I truly miss them already.

This was a trip of a lifetime and if I was to take another guided tour, I would absolutely, hands down choose to travel with Adventures By Disney.

Our Experience Visiting Yosemite National Park (With Kids)

We recently returned from an awesome nine-day road trip with our kids, ages six and nine. Starting in San Francisco, we drove to Yosemite National Park, then drove to Sequoia National Park. Then, we eventually made our way to Las Vegas, where we did some fun things inside and outside the city.
