It’s true. Disney’s Riviera Resort is expensive, which might leave one wondering whether or not a stay here is worth it? So for this overview, we’ll discuss details like location aspects, accommodations (what sets them apart), dining highlights, and how the resort compares to others like Disney’s Boardwalk and Grand Floridian Resorts. By the time we’re finished, you should have a good idea if this resort is worth considering for your next stay.

Location

As they say in real estate…or in this instance Disney Resort Hotels: location, location, location! Location is a primary factor when choosing a higher end hotel like Disney’s Riviera or any of the other deluxe resorts. Disney’s Riviera sits along the Skyliner route, offering quick gondola access to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Being able to walk out of the resort and board a gondola to either of these destinations is considered a significant upgrade over the bus, especially during busier times of the day.

On the flip side, you’ll need to know that the resort does not offer an additional bus service to the locations serviced by the Skyliner. So if you have someone in your party with a fear of heights, you’ll want to be aware of this factor. The gondola system is the only form of complimentary transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The only time bus service is offered is when the Skyliner is down for maintenance or weather-related events.

It’s also worth noting that the Riviera isn’t within walking distance of the park. There is something to be said about being able to walk directly from your resort to a park entrance. While we won’t fault the Riviera for the lack of this amenity, it’s something you’ll want to consider when comparing other resorts.

Accommodations

The rooms (and room types) at Disney’s Riviera Resort are truly one of the deciding factors for us. We stay here often because the rooms are a little more refined with European touches, plenty of extra space, and thoughtful details that balance both style and function.

Room types range from tower studios that sleep up to two guests to three-bedroom grand villas that can accommodate up to 12 adults. We love the compact option for couples, but the larger villas provide additional space and are well-suited for extended stays.

The resort offers the following room types:

With so many options, it might be hard to decide which one will work best for your travel party. Our team has stayed in or personally toured all of the room types at the Riviera. So if you have any questions, make sure to reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to answer them.

Dining Highlights

Dining is one of the areas where Disney’s Riviera Resort tends to stand out. While the resort has a smaller layout than most deluxe properties, it offers an incredible lineup of quick-service and signature dining. Here are a few highlights:

Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is located on the resort’s rooftop. This restaurant offers a character breakfast in the morning and a refined fine dining experience in the evening. The setting includes panoramic views and the menu boasts a variety of offerings.

For more casual meals, Primo Piatto serves as the resort’s quick-service location. It offers a range of options from breakfast to dinner, along with grab-and-go items that can be convenient on park days. This is one of our top favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat at Disney World.

Le Petit Café provides a stop for coffee, pastries, and small bites throughout the day. It functions more like a lounge-style café and can be a convenient option for a lighter start or break in the afternoon.

Near the pool, Bar Riva offers open-air seating with a menu of small plates and beverages. It’s a simple choice for a midday break without leaving the resort. (Don’t skip on this option! It’s a hidden gem.)

Overall, the dining options at Disney’s Riviera are all a home run. We go out of our way to dine here, even when we’re not staying at the resort!

How It Compares to Other Deluxe Resorts

When comparing Riviera to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, the biggest difference often comes down to atmosphere and access. While the resorts are close to each other, BoardWalk is within a short walking distance of Epcot. This resort also offers a lively, nostalgic setting along Crescent Lake. Riviera, on the other hand, provides Skyliner access and a quieter, more relaxed environment.

In comparison to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Riviera tends to feel more modern and compact. The Grand Floridian offers proximity to Magic Kingdom is a win, but we always feel like the two are on a level playing field when it comes to upscale amenities. The Riviera has so many details that won’t go unnoticed to a well-trained eye. (We love the bow-tie marble accents!)

Overall, we think that Disney’s Riviera is a winner with the exception of not being within walking distance of a theme park. But a ride on the Skyliner is one of the most pleasant ways to start the day!

Is Disney’s Riviera Worth It?

Ultimately, the value of a stay will depend on what factors matter most to your travel party. We love Disney’s Riviera Resort and would say it’s definitely worth it for us. Our travel party has stayed at least once a year since the resort opened, and we’ll likely continue to do so. Between the resort’s convenient layout, upscale feel, and spacious rooms, it’s a win-win for us.

So what do you think? If you still can’t decide, we’re happy to discuss your options and others you’re considering. Feel free to reach out to discuss your travel plans, and we can walk through the details together to find the best fit for your trip.
